Tekno Team Driver Spotlight: Shawn Rusin
TH: How old are you and where are you from?
SR: I’m 48 and from Tucson AZ.
TH: Favorite Class at the races?
SR: The DB48 in 2.2 Unlimited U4RC, lol.
I like my Ebuggy but I do better with an Etruggy, could be my age.
My hart is always with the buggy electric and nitro.
TH: Best moment with the Tekno Team?
SR: February 2018 at DNC. AZU4 held a U4RC Winter Nationals race. This was when Matt Wolter won 2.2 Unlimited with the DB48. Rich Morgen with RC Network introduced me to Matt and a few guys from the team. I had just started with Tekno and did not know anyone yet. I had a lot of fun that weekend.
TH: What are your racing goals for 2020?
SR: Race as much as I can.
I’ll keep the SoCalU4RC series going and will be at Pro-Line By The Fire with a U4RC hot laps race.
Me and the SoCalU4RC crew are coming up with another u4 unlimited 1.9 class using a 1/10 4wd buggy or truggy, I want to get more cars built and on the track racing.
I would like to hit up a few JBRL races.
I think a huge goal is to get as familiar as I can with the EB48 2.0
TH: Favorite Tekno Upgrade Part?
SR: At this moment? I like my carbon fiber shock towers on the EB48 2.0
Something I always do to all my cars is the TiNi shock shafts.
But your slipping if you don’t have the new red wheel nuts.
TH: Event you look forward to the most in the next year?
SR: Pro-Line By The Fire, yeah I know it's not a buggy race but this event is so much fun. My runner up is DNC.
TH: Anyone you would like to thank?
SR: Well I would like to thank you Tyler for the opportunity, Daniel, Matt and the whole TeknoRC team, huge thank you Tekno.
My boss at CowRC, Heath Meschkow for the opportunity to be the Factory Team Manager, I want to thank my CowRC team and fans for their work and dedication.
I want to thank all my sponsors Pro-Line, Tekin, MKS, and MaxAmps
Of course, I have to thank all the RC hobbyist’s, racer’s, tinkers and builders without you none of this is possible.
