Tekno RC Team drivers Derek Cathcart and Seth VanDalen fill the top podium spots at the annual Presidential Race held at Leisure Hours Raceway and 510 Winter Series race at 510 Raceway. Congratulations to both drivers for their great performance! Race report from each race below.
2016 Annual Presidential race, report by Derek Cathcart:
“Annual Presidential race serves as a warm up race to the Chi-town Shootout and brings many fast drivers from a tri state area. My Tekno SCT410.3 and Eb48.3 were great from practice to the A main and only needed small changes to keep up with the changing track conditions. I took the TQ in Pro4 but fell a few seconds short of TQ in ebuggy. Starting the Pro4 A main on the pole, I led tone-to-tone for the win by a half a lap. In the ebuggy A main I would get to start on pole as the TQ driver went home. Again leading from the tone and taking win by nearly a lap.”
Final Results:
Electric Buggy:
1st: Derek Cathcart
2nd: Kevin Battefeld
3rd: Jason White
4×4 Short Course:
TQ/1st: Derek Cathcart
2nd: Brian Malone
3rd: Keith Lepper
510 Winter Series race, report by Seth VanDalen:
“The day started out with qualifier 1 I ran descent on new tires and the car got better each run. I sealed the TQ spot with a good run in the last round. Going into the main I started good and got a comfortable lead but made 1 mistake and fell back to 3rd. Once I recovered I mounted a charge back to the front. With two minutes left I was still having trouble pulling in my friend Sam Sovacool. I got out front with 50 seconds left with a mistake from Sam and didn’t look back and pulled a 3 second lead in 3 laps.”
