Cabin Fever 2016 Track
The Pacific NW 1/8 racing season kicked off this past weekend in Lewiston, Idaho at the annual Cabin Fever race. This years event spanned 3 days with Friday being practice, Saturday three rounds of qualifying using your best two rounds in a qual point format and main events on Sunday – 30 minute nitro mains and triple A-Mains in electric. Drivers from Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Canada were all in attendance, itching to get racing after a long and wet winter up here. Approximately 240 entries made for a very long but very fun weekend.
Friday practice day went well for myself as well as the rest of the team as we worked together and shared setup tips to get our Tekno vehicles to work exactly like we wanted. 8-10 minute long practice sessions alternating between 1/10 and 1/8 allowed plenty of track time for all the drivers in attendance.
Nitro Pits
Qualifying in truggy went great. A great battle on the clock with Shane Pruegschat in round one with him getting me on the last lap by .5 seconds. I would TQ rounds 2 and 3 to wrap up the overall TQ and Austin Azure would put his Tekno 3rd overall.
The 30 minute truck main went amazing. My Ultimate M5 was running extremely rich at the beginning of the race but I still managed to come into the first set of pit stops in 2nd place, just behind Pruegschat. Tekno teammate Keith Hadley was pitting for me and we took an extra couple seconds to lean out the top end and the race was on. I took the lead a few minutes later and never looked back, taking a full lap win in my first race with the NT48.3!

Keith Hadley put on a show in electric 1/8th scale buggy. Running my EB48.3 he would TQ all 3 rounds on Saturday against some very stiff competition while Austin Azure would make the A-Main as well and start 10th. In the 10 minute triple A-Mains on Sunday, Keith would go on to wrap up the title in 2 mains to complete his great weekend.

Keith Hadley and I both raced our SCT410.3’s and had a blast. Keith was on fire and TQ’d all 3 rounds of qualifying and won both of the first 2 mains to secure the win. I qualified 2nd, finished 2nd and Jason Cocking would pilot his Tekno SC to 3rd overall on Sunday for a Tekno podium sweep!
