Rick was inspired to build his own oversized Revo after reading Kevin Hetmanski’s Project Traxxas Revo 3.3 back in 2015. Rick had a tired old stock Revo with a blown engine and badly in need of an overhaul. What you see here evolved over time. The current iteration sports an LRP ZR .32 Spec 2 power plant. Rick really wanted to use Red Cat’s 1/5-scale Rampage XT body, so he stretched the chassis a whopping 6.5 inches to accommodate it and bolted on a set of HPI Goliath wheels and tires. Rick tells us he’s not a fan of chasing a truck around with starter wands or glow igniters, so he adapted Losi’s Remote-Operated Starter System (R.O.S.S.) for use with the ZR 3.2. The big motor required a 3S lipo to turn it over, so he upgraded the R.O.S.S. with a Castle 10-amp BEC. The transmission got beefed up too, with Robinson Racing metal gears. So far its been bulletproof; Rick has put a gallon of fuel through it so far and had to fix or replace nothing except a couple glow plugs.
