When Team Associated driver and Southern California native Steven Hartson crossed the finish line in A3 for the 4WD segment of the IFMAR Electric Off-Road World Championships he claimed the fifteenth title in class history. The feat was made even more impressive given the fact that he started sixth on the grid in all three main events, and he had to beat two three-time world champions (including the defending champ). With a combination of patience, aggression, and outright speed, Hartson’s victory after a last lap battle was the perfect end to a spectacular week of racing and earned him both a gigantic trophy and a large bottle of champagne.
