As though the RC Short Course Nationals isn’t an exciting enough race on its own, the state of Connecticut has played host to not only its first earthquake in hundreds of years, but also its first hurricane schedule to make landfall later this weekend. No matter, as the Short Course Nationals charges on, with the RC Car Action editors on the scene.
This race draws large crowds, with over 220 entries this year, many of whom are professional drivers like Durango’s Billy Fischer, TLR’s Kieth Whisler and Ryan Dunford, and Associated’s Scott Brown. The track at RC Madness is a large 1/8-scale size track with a loose top layer, a heavily rutted and rocky surface, and a fun and challenging layout.
Today (Friday) was practice, with many drivers spending time learning the track.
Due to the impending doom on the horizon with hurricane Irene charging into town late Saturday and Sunday, the format for the race has been altered. The event will be condensed into a single day tomorrow, Saturday, with two rounds of qualifying and mains, assuming the weather holds out!
