In the spirit of a typical Novak innovation, the company is combining its industry-changing 550 Ballistic motor with its 14 mm high-torque tuning rotor, and once again upping the ante on 4×4 short course racing. Novak’s Ballistic 550 High-Torque Brushless Motor – 4.5T (#3514) has a different rotor than the standard 550. The 14mm Tuning Rotor – (#5949) has a larger diameter and improved magnetic material. This provides the motor with a higher temperature threshold, and enhances its durability — making it perfect for the demands of short course racing. Additionally, this tuning rotor operates at a lower Kv, which keeps the operating temperature lower, and provides even more torque and power to the already impressive Ballistic 550 motor.
BIGGER IS BETTER
Novak’s 550-sized motors were the first to break into the world of 4×4 short course racing last year. With their extra-long stator and rotor magnet, the 550s feature twice the length and torque of 540-sized motors, making them run faster, cooler and more efficiently than their 540 counterparts.
BALLISTIC VERSATILITY
Novak’s Ballistic motors revolutionized brushless racing by featuring interchangeable wound stator construction. By removing the main screws, the motor’s end bells and sensor assemblies can easily be removed to leave only the stator, which can be replaced with a different wound stator, including Novak’s new Ballistic 550 Epoxy-Dipped Wound Stator – 4.5T (#S6504E).
A simple stator swap allows for easier experimentation at the track and cuts down on racing costs. And like all of Novak’s Ballistic motors, the Ballistic 550s feature a rotor, front end bell, sensor harness, bearings and other replaceable items.
All of the Ballistic 550 motors are compatible with Novak’s Kinetic Racing ESC (#1740), Kinetic Spec ESC (#1742), Havoc Pro SC ESC (#1745), GTB 2 Sportsman ESC (#1709), and most other sensored, brushless and low RDS-on speed controls.
The Ballistic 550 High-Torque BL Motor 4.5T (#3514) will be available in May 2011.
