NEO12 Day Two

07 April, 2012

Day Two of Neo12 is currently underway. This morning everyone woke up to dark grey clouds with a slight drizzle of rain and reported highs of 54deg. For the most part the weather doesn’t have much effect on the racing because everyone is pitting under the enormous barn that’s protecting them from the elements. The big question for today is, can former NEO Champion Jared Tebo carry his practice pace into the first round of qualifying?

Quick English (UK) to English (USA) translations. Everyday I’ll be posting some common English (UK) terms translated into English (USA). Up for today is:
Beetle Crushers = Heavy Boots
Bog = Toilet
Codswallop = Nonsense
Davenport = Writing desk, bureau
Drawing pin = Thumbtack
Gangway = Aisle
Hoarding = Billboard

New Kyosho MP9 Radio Tray.
FDL/Kyosho UK’s Mick Cradock walks through the key features to the updated MP9 radio tray which team drivers Jared Tebo, Cody King, Elliot Boots, and a few other are running for this event.

New Pro-Line Tire, Square Fuzzie for 1/8 Buggy

Pro-Line’s Daniel Adams walks us through the brand new Square Fuzzie 1/8 buggy tire designed for indoor truck surfaces just like NEO12. The Square Fuzzie comes from a long background in 1/10-scale electric buggy and truck. Up until recently the tread pattern had been discontinued for unknown reasons and now it makes its racing debut for 1/8 buggy.

ROUND ONE TQ, HB RACING’S TY TESSMAN
It seems that Ty Tessman is carrying his momentum from Nitro Challenge (just a few weeks ago) into NEO12. If you’ve seen pictures of Ty’s current Hot Bodies D8 you’ll see that carries very little resemblance to the current production buggy. Teammate Atsushi Hara’s vehicle features some one off parts as well. What’s interesting is that of the six Hot Bodies vehicles in attendance, only on is the plastic chassis CR8 which has yet to be released. This begs the question… Will the CR8 ever see the light of production or will it merely serve as an engineering exercise never to be sold?

ROUND THREE TQ/OVERALL TQ FOR DAY ONE, TY TESSMAN
It seems that the Hot Bodies test is working for Ty and his 3sec lead over the field is sufficient evidence to their continual development of the D8. Lets not forget about Kyosho’s Cody King and Ryan Maifield. Both drivers have had two very good rounds, so expect to see them in the main event. Going into round four tomorrow, there’s been rumor that race officials are a little bummed out over that fact that drivers has not been using the whoops option lane section. Instead they’ve been using the double just to the left of it. There’s talk that track work tonight might include trimming down the whoops section in order to entice drivers into using that lane.
