When I received the Caster Racing F8T-FK Fusion Pro Truggy Kit, I brought it home to assemble right away. I was excited to get this one together as it looked like it could be a real contender at a great price. On the workbench, I started assembling the truck and it went together very easily. The directions were very clear, and all the bags were marked with what sized screw was inside. There was only one mistake in the manual that called for hinge pins with e-clips; thankfully, this kit actually comes with captured hinge pins, so this was one discrepancy I was happy to see (I really don’t like messing with e-clips). Once the truck was together, I tossed in some electronics. I used the stock steering servo, speed control and motor from the Caster Racing Pro buggy. I then added a Futaba 4PK radio and receiver. MaxAmps.com 2-cell LiPos were used to power this bad boy.
I took the truggy to Wolcott Hobbies and Raceway in Wolcott, CT for testing. After dialing in my electronics, I started doing laps. The truggy was very stable and it was quick. The stock tires actually hooked up very well, but after a little while, they didn’t like to stay glued on the rims. I don’t know if I can blame Caster for this one, as I’m not the best at gluing tires. I bolted on a set of pre-mounted Pro-Line tires for the rest of the day and had zero hiccups. On the track the Truggy handled well, was very stable in the air and after going through two full sets of batteries, had no problems whatsoever. The truck seemed very durable and I look forward to racing it at my local track.
