At any big race, tires are always a hot topic and this year’s Cactus Classic is no different.  What usually takes racers a lot of elbow grease and tire-tuning knowledge to craft sets perfectly suited for the track, has been circumvented by the introduction of production slicks. Pro-Line, JConcepts and AKA are at the event and are debuting their line up of slicks in the perfect environment. Along with firm closed cell inserts, the tires only need to be mounted and set on the track. No sauce necessary and an abundance of traction.

AKA's slicks are still early in production and still have no branding on the sidewall, but are still be used by drivers like Team Associated's Ryan Cavalieri. AKA also decided it was perfect timing to release a new firmer, black insert to work with the slicks.

JConcepts and AKA have opted to go with a pure slick, but Pro-Line chose to run a small, shallow directional groove for use when there is a slight bit of wet or dust on the track and have even gone as far as developing separate molds for the short course version since the tires are asymmetrical in design due to the nature of the inner and outer sidewall.

In spite of this, the SRS Raceway clay still sticks to the tires like paste and needs to be cleaned after each run.
