As we kick off the 2018 race season, the JConcepts race team is constantly hard at work putting in time at club races, series point races, and big 2018 kickoff races to get the experience to constantly progress. We believe with each event, the team gets stronger and more focused on the goals at hand and with weekly updates like these….. proves it true. Thanks to the entire team for 2017, but 2018 is going to be even better! Here’s the team update on this winning Wednesday.
There’s no doubting Kaja Novotny’s speed. He’s been on the international race scene for a while now and has slowly climbed the ranks into the ultra-fast group. In preparations for the upcoming EOS race season, Kaja raced the 4th round of the Lestr Cup Series in Prague, which also used the EOS carpet. Feeling right at home, Kaja managed to TQ both 2wd and 4wd classes and take the double win. This is how you start off the year! Great job Kaja.
Starting the year off right, JConcepts’ Chandler Elliot attended the January Jam hosted by Flowood Racing Complex where he found success int he 1/8th Expert Nitro Truggy class taking home the TQ and win! Chandler also finished 3rd on the podium in the 1/8th Expert Pro Nitro Buggy class as well. Not a bad weekend for Chandler!
It’s great to hear our JConcepts driver, Damian Lamy hailing from Quebec, Canada. The ultra-fast Damian joined in on some club racing action last weekend were he topped the field taking the win in 2wd and 4wd against some heavy hitters. Damian ran black compound Octagons on both cars and found the speed to take home the double win!
Fast and friendly, Derek Stephansen has been putting in the work in preparations for the Reedy Race of Champions at OCRC next weekend. Getting in as much track time before the big race, Derek has been getting great results and we’re beyond stoked. Derek was able to attend round 3 of the JBRL Series hosted by Rain-Man Hobbies and Raceway where he took the win in 4wd Mod and finished 3rd in 2wd Mod. Derek’s tire of choice for the race was gold compound Octagons.
One of the biggest kickoff races for 1/8th scale is the January Jam at Flowood RC. Taking part in the action was our very own Drew Spurgeon where Drew was able to take the TQ and win in 40+ Nitro Buggy and pull off a miracle comeback win in Ebuggy by winning A2 and A3 to take the overall. Drew was equipped with the S3 bodies and Detox tire combo to set the winning pace!
It was a Holmberg vs Holmberg battle at 510 Raceway last weekend where the two cousins battled it out in 2wd and 4wd. This time, it was Hunter Holmberg taking the win in both 2wd and 4wd just edging out cousin and JConcepts teammate, Kyle Holmberg. We’re stoked these two get to race and push each other to the next level. That’s what it’s going to take! We fully expect Kyle to bounce back and show Hunter what he’s got!
Locking up the Ebuggy and 2wd Modified class series overall last weekend at the South Florida Off-Road Series, JConcepts’ Jader Lopez was able to put in two stunning performances by setting TQ’s in both classes and take home the double wins. Great job and congrats on the series overall wins Jader!
Attending the Kickin’ Dirt Points Series Kickoff race, JConcepts’ Matt Stoltz had a great time at the event and showed the speed to take the win in the Mod 2wd SCT class with his Team Associated SC5M decked out with JConcepts rubber and accessories. Way to go Matt!
Adding another win to his list of accomplishments, JConcepts’ Robert Chapman was able to take an Outlaw Sprint Oval race win at Indy RC World using blue Dirt Webs on front with blue compound Hybrids in back. This tire combo gave Robert the edge providing him the grip he needed to qualify 2nd and go on to take the win in the main. Great job Robert!
Brad has slowly positioned himself as the guy to beat in the St. Louis area kicking off the 2018 race season in style. Brad took another double win in 2wd and 4wd Modified at SmacTrac, where he’s preppin’ for the round 1 of the JConcepts Indoor National Series. Utilizing gold Dirt Webs, F2 bodies and Aero wings, Brad was able to set the fastest times of the weekend. Watch out for Brad as he’s going to be a contender this year.
JConcepts’ Brandon Foote is a name well recognized in the Northwest as he’s been making headlines at the TRCR NIS series races for the past few seasons. With Brandon’s home track being dirt, Brandon has been putting some time on the carpet track at Northwest Hobbies and Raceway, where the 2018 Carpet Nationals will be held for the first time. Great job taking the win in 2wd Brandon and keep up the hard work.
