Wild, Classic, Championship Racing Weekend For JConcepts

12 August, 2020

The JConcepts race team was hard at work this past weekend competing at several races around the nation. Let’s check in with the team at three events in particular starting with the 2020 Georgia State Championships.

This event was held at Phil Hurd Raceway in Savannah, GA from August 7th and 8th with over 100 entries competing for 13 different titles. This race was ran outside and was unique since it offered both 1/8 Nitro/Electric classes along with 1/10 Electric too. It can be a challenge to build a track suitable to the different scales, but the Phil Hurd Raceway crew did an awesome job for getting the track and facility in wonderful shape!

Originally this was supposed to be a two day event on Saturday and Sunday, but since the forecast called for rain on Sunday practice was held on Friday with all qualifiers and mains were ran on Saturday. Each class ran three qualifiers and single A Mains with varying time length depending on the class. Let’s check out a few highlighted results with the team.

Now let’s head over to Enid, Oklahoma to check out the action at the 4th Annual The Classic at The Creek. This dirt oval race was held at Spring Creek R/C Speedway with over 120 entries combined. On Friday night the event began as drivers duked it out for “bragging” rights with their race results. On Saturday things got more serious with the hardware and money purses on the line. Controlled practice was set to begin at 12:15 and racing began at 3pm. Qualifying consisted of two rocket rounds directly followed by all mains. With 5 titles and cash purses to be awarded, the racing competition was intense out on the track. Let’s see how the team performed at the race.

In the competitive 410 Sprint class we had two drivers make the podium and four in the A Main group overall! Leading the way for JConcepts was driver Trevor Nault in 2nd place along with team mate Brian Stanton on the podium with him in 3rd. Team driver Tyler Keel qualified and finished in 5th and JC driver Jeremy Cathlina secured 8th place. Trevor has to say about the race:

“In practice and the 2 rounds of qualifying Aqua compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses were working well and allowed me to qualify 9th overall which had me starting 3rd in the B main. With traction on the rise, I decided to make a few adjustments to my car, as well as make the switch to Gold compound Dirt Webs and Ellipse tires. With those changes my car had a ton of speed which helped me win the B main and bump up to the A main. Starting 7th in the A I was able to work my way up the rankings and take 2nd in the last corner. Special thanks to all my friends and teammates for all the help and good times in the pits.”

In the Midwest Modified class we had two drivers on the podium for JConcepts! Leading the charge was driver Robert Chapman and joining him in 2nd was team mate Tyler Keel! Robert had this to say about the race:

“In Midwest Mod I would make a early attempt at the lead, fell back to 3rd. Went back and forth with 2nd place, finally made the pass for 2nd and ran down the leader with 10 laps left, next lap I would make the pass for the win! My tire of choice for Midwest Mod was Aqua Dirt Webs in the front and Aqua Ellipse in the rear. Congrats to teammates Trevor, Brian, Jeremy, and Tyler on their podiums this weekend as well. As always thank you to the JConcepts crew for producing the best tires and products that allow me to contend for wins each and every week. Much appreciated!”

Filling out the A Main for the JC team was team mates Nathan Dean in 5th and Jeremy Cathlina in 7th. Brian had to say about the event when it came to tire selection:

“I went over Friday to get some time on my new Late Model and break in tires. I stuck with the Aqua compound, Mono wheels, and Dirt Tech inserts all around, Ellipse rears for both the Sprint and Late Model classes. Dirt Web fronts in Late Model and Ellipse fronts in Sprint.
