Team Talk – Kody Numedahl

25 August, 2015

numedahlWe spend some time talking with JConcepts Team Drivers to learn a little more about them, their racing background, race day rituals and more.

This week we speak with Associated/JConcepts driver Kody Numedahl…

How did you get started in radio control, and how long have you been racing?
I worked at a hobbytown when I was going to high school and found out about my local track MHOR RC Raceway.

What’s your favorite class? And why?
2WD Buggy because it is the most competitive electric class.

When did you decide to start taking RC racing more seriously?
From the start! As soon as I found out about the racing I was hooked.

How long have you been racing for JConcepts?
Since 2006.

What race do you look forward to the most every year? What makes that your favorite?
The Reedy Race. It’s the race with the most talented field besides the worlds but still has a relaxed atmosphere.

What R/C accomplishment are you most proud of?
Finishing 2nd at the worlds warmup in Japan earlier this year.

As some people might already know, you work for Team Associated developing new products. What are some of the projects you have worked on in the past? And which one has been your favorite to work on?
I have been involved with many projects including the B5M, T5M, SC5M, and most recently the RC8B3. I think the RC8B3 was my favorite because lots of people were involved and there was a lot to learn in the process.

As a designer is there one project you are not currently working on that you would like to build in the future?
I really enjoy the racing classes so any racing class project sounds good to me.

You were able to attend the world’s warm-up race in Japan a couple of months ago and looked pretty comfortable running on the very high bite AstroTurf. Can you let us in on maybe something that you learned from the event?
Car setup is crucial for this type of racing and even little details that are usually overlooked can make or break your run.

When you’re not at work or at the track, what do you like to do for fun?
Usually head down to the beach on the beach cruiser.

What’s your favorite source for R/C news?
Redrc.net
