Race Team Update – March 2020 Week #2

13 March, 2020

Starting things off are great team results from the 2020 Desert Classic at Hobby Action!

TLR/JConcepts driver Dakotah Phend continues to rack up wins with the new TLR 22X-4 wheeler as he took the TQ & win in Mod 4wd Buggy! Joining him on the podium was Yokomo/JConcepts driver Ryan Maifield in 2nd & Team Associated/JConcepts driver Spencer Rivkin in 3rd to complete the podium sweep for the JC team!!

In Mod 2wd JConcepts teammates Maifield & Rivkin would also finish 2nd & 3rd on the podium again to give the team another strong finish in this class!

In Mod Truck Phend would capture another win after qualifying 3rd heading into the single A Main. He was joined on the podium by teammate Rivkin to fill out a solid weekend by Spencer!

In the ultra-competitive 17.5 2wd Buggy class Team Associated/JConcepts driver Riley Schaeffer put in some solid runs in A1 & A3 to capture the final spot on the podium this past weekend. Ellipse tires in the Silver compound were the hot ticket for the JConcepts race team!

Team driver Chris VanRaemdonck had a big weekend at the 2020 BeachRC.com Palmetto Classic at Beach Hobbies. He competed in 5 classes (not a typo!) over the 3 day event & was able to TQ & win in 17.5 2wd Buggy, take 2nd place in Mod 2wd SCT, & take 2nd place in Mod Truck! He also made the big show in Mod 2wd & 4wd finishing 7th & 8th respectively. He reports that slicked out Ellipses in the Silver compound was the tire to run in the mains. Great job Chris & you take home the ‘Iron Man’ award too!

At that same event teammate Cade Burnette was able to make both mains for Mod 2wd & 4wd as well. In Mod 2wd Buggy he finished strong in 5th place overall & in Mod 4wd he captured 3rd place on the podium! Great job Cade!

Team driver Tyler Miller reports on his success at Round 4 of the NIS (Northwest Indoor Series) at Tacoma RC Raceway. He TQed 13.5 Truck after 2 rounds of qualifying & led from start to finish in both A1 & A2 for the win! The tire of choice was Ellipses in the Gold compound. Joining him on the podium in 3rd was teammate Andrew Beauchamp!

At this same event Beauchamp was able to capture 2nd place in the Pro Stock 2wd Buggy class & fellow teammate Austin Cracknell took the win! Great job guys!

At last weekend’s Winter Points Series at Thunder Road Raceway in Waite Park, MN, team driver Thor Ott took the TQ & win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He reported that the JConcepts Twin Pins & Swaggers were dialed along with the Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing! Joining him on the podium in 3rd was teammate Tyler Johner.

Johner was also able to podium again with a TQ & 2nd place finish in 13.5 4wd Buggy. Tyler reports that he also used the JConcepts Twin Pins & Swaggers, Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing & F2 bodies on his rides!

Over in Grandville, MI team driver Kyle Munson had great results at the March Madness trophy race at Grand River RC. He competed with his TLR rides in both the Stadium Truck & 2wd SCT classes & he was able to TQ & win in them both! His 22T was pulling wheelies using the JConcepts Ellipse tires in the Gold compound while his 22SCT ran Dirt Webs, also in the Gold compound.

Normally an off-road electric carpet racer, JConcepts driver Brandon Kearney decided to test his skills by competing in some dirt oval racing at Highside RC Speedway in Algona, IA. He competed in the 360 Sprint Car class which uses a 13.5 motor limit with a blinky mode ESC. He qualified 2nd overall & was able to take the win in the main! He reports that the hot setup was Dirt Webs in the Gold compound in the front with Ellipses in the Silver compound in the rear. Nice racing Brandon!

With Spring on the horizon that means the outdoor nitro season is starting to heat up & we are already getting winning results from drivers! Team driver Drew Spurgeon competed at the 6th annual Out Of Hibernation race at Alison RC Offroad Raceway in Little Rock, AR this past weekend & he was able to TQ & win in 3 classes: Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, 1/8 Nitro Buggy & 1/8 Electric Truggy! Helping Drew dominate that weekend were Triple Dees in the Truggy class & in the Buggy classes he used the Reflex tire in the Blue compound. Nice driving Drew!

At Round 1 of the 2020 RC Pro Oval South hosted by N-Control RC Racing Circuit in Dale, TX team driver Robert Chapman reports that he finished in 1st place in Outlaw Sprint & also finished in 2nd on the podium in Midwest Mod! Both cars used the JConcepts Dirt Webs in the Green compound in the front & Ellipses in the Green compound in the rear! Way to go Robert!

Our newest champion is team driver Aaron Dexter who was able to take home the 2020 New Zealand National title! He reports that he traveled to New Plymouth, New Zealand to compete for the 2020 NZRCA National titles. He was able to TQ the event after 3 rounds of qualifying on Friday. The Semi race was a little nerve racking after he had to start in pit lane when he didn’t make it to the grid on time. But after some solid driving he was able to battle back & finish 1st after 30 minutes thus capturing the pole for the 60 minute A Main! In the main he would lead the entire race & finish 2 laps up on the field!! The weapon of choice was JConcepts Stalkers in the Blue compound & after 60 minutes they had plenty of tread left! Awesome job champ!

Team driver Travis Slover reports in from the 2020 Pro Am Showdown at Jake’s RC in Topeka, KS. Recently they switched over to a carpet surface but that didn’t slow down Slover as he was able to TQ & take 1st place in both the Pro Stock & 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes! JConcepts Twin Pins & Swaggers were the tire of choice.

Team driver John Cravotta competed at the Maine Carpet Champs hosted by Maximus RC Raceway. He competed in both the 17.5 2wd & 13.5 4wd Buggy classes & secured the double TQ & win! Cravotta reported that both of his buggies were locked in with the winning combination of JConcepts Nessi & Swaggers tires!

Great job team! #gojconcepts
